A very pleasant surprise comes from Slovenia. This year’s representative of Slovenia is the young band LPS with the song Disco. When I first heard the song I didn’t pay attention to the band members. Then I realized that they are very young and extremely talented young men.
That is why it was unusual for me that such a young band has a song reminiscent of some old times when chansons prevailed. The lead singer has a very pleasant voice that perfectly suits this style of music. The song is very chill but at the same time very fun.
When I hear the song Disco, the first thing that comes to mind is a film about the 60s of the last century when people went to dances and this kind of music played in the background. That’s why I like the combination of the band’s youth and a bit outdated style of music.
I like that LPS sings in Slovenian. The song isn’t bad but I also think it’s not for a wide audience, especially younger audiences. Given that this is a very uncertain Eurovision year, it can be said that the chance for the finals exists. Although this song is very sweet to me, I doubt it will come to the fore at Eurovision.
I don’t have too many objections to the song, but I don’t think it’s the most ideal for the competition. But I support the young band LPS to seize their opportunity and show themselves to Europe. At the moment, I am of the opinion that Slovenia will probably not qualify for the finals, but it will be much easier to assess when all the songs of the first semifinal group are known. As I said, some chance exists but depending on what the final competition will be. I wish LPS good luck. My rating for the song Disco is 5.5 / 10.
