For the past two years, Switzerland has been my clear favorite to win. Gjon’s tears would surely have won had it not been for such tough competition. 2021 was a very specific year, but regardless of that, Switzerland has set a very high standard, and now the next big success is expected to be victory.
This year Switzerland is represented by Marius Bear with the song Boys Do Cry. Marius has an irresistibly beautiful voice, he sounds a bit like a singer from some older times. The song also sounds like it was written in the first half of the 20th century. It is a very emotional, refined, and tender ballad. I don’t remember when we had this type of song at Eurovision, reminiscent of songs by Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, and others.
If I had only seen a picture of a performer at first, I would never have thought he would sing a song like this. Also, it was hard for the 4th year in a row to find a song that could compete for the win. I believe they wanted to try something different this year but it is understandable that it is difficult to stay at a high level.
The song is very beautiful and I think the jury will especially like it. I think that Switzerland will qualify for the finals because it has a quality song and even if there are not too many points from the audience. This is a real jury song and that’s why I think Switzerland will secure another final. What I think is that the song Boys do Cry will not win this year, it will find its place in the finals but I do not expect any big results.
I think he will achieve a high result by the jury, but not overall. Switzerland has once again chosen a beautiful song but Gjon’s tears will be hard to beat. My rating for the song Boys Do Cry is 6.5 / 10.
