Last year’s edition of the Eurovision Song Contest was unsuccessful for Albania. Shocking elimination in the semi-finals, but ultimately not unexpected considering the different versions of the song and performance from the national selection to the Turin competition.
The new season is here, as well as a new hope for Albania to try to achieve the best possible success.
Albina & Familja Kelmendi represent Albania this year with the song Duje. I like this consistency with national culture and tradition, especially because this song will ultimately be performed in the Albanian language.
The song has a very powerful and emotional beginning that reveals all the feelings they want to convey to us. The song leaves an impression on the audience, it has a power that can be felt during the entire performance.
It is difficult to say how ideal “Duje” is for the Eurovision competition. I think that this song would be more suitable as a soundtrack for some dramatic telenovelas. Also, I don’t like staging at all and I don’t see the possibility of progress in that segment. But the Eurovision stage can bring out the best of every song, so I hope that something can happen here.
I think this song would be much more suitable for one of the Eurovision editions from a few years ago. Although we still don’t know which semi-final group Albania is in, I don’t think they will make it to the final. The reason for this is that only the audience decides who goes to the finals, and the history of the competition has shown that Albania mostly passes thanks to the votes of the jury, which will be excluded this year.
I hope that they will work on the staging of Albania and that they will win the hearts of the audience. My rating for the song “Duje” is 6/10.
