Last year’s success of the United Kingdom marked the year 2022. A success that has not happened for this country in more than 20 years. If there was no war in Europe, I think the UK would have won, and deservedly so because the song was great.
The absence of victory was partly compensated by the hosting of the UK and will surely justify its role. The UK’s internal selection has proven to be a great way to select representatives and I hope it will produce a new Eurovision winner in the near future. This year, Mae Muller represents the UK with I Wrote A Song.
The song is in line with world music trends, in the style of Dua Lipa. The beginning of the song is very powerful. It deals with everyday topics, problems with a partner, adultery, and more. Instead of revenge, Mae decided to write a song.
The song is very good but I don’t think it’s a winning song and probably won’t be as successful as Sam Riley’s song. I think it can become a radio hit and dominate the pop charts, but I don’t see a possible victory. Of course, that can change if fanatical staging occurs.
I think that the song can enter the top 10 and I really hope that the UK will continue to choose representatives and songs like this because that way they will surely get their first victory after 1997. My rating for I Wrote A Song is 7.5/10.
