Last year’s representatives of Albania surprised with their final placement in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest. When the song was first released, my prediction was that Albania would not have much chance for the finals, but luckily for them, it was different.
Like many fans, I am a big fan of Albanian music and think they have a rich music scene. Therefore, every year expectations and hopes are growing that Albania will finally become a potential favorite for the Eurovision victory. We always hope that they will offer a piece of their culture but innovatively and differently.
If we exclude the Klemendi family, in the last 10 years, Albania has been represented by as many as 8 beautiful female singers and only 1 male singer. All singers had very strong dramatic songs that impressed with their vocal performance. Each of them was special in its way, but in the end, it was always the same choice for Albania.
This year, Albania is represented by Besa Kokëdhima with the song Zemrën N’dorë. Another beautiful singer introduces herself with a dramatic song in the Albanian language. The song is fine, but as I mentioned before, nothing different or innovative compared to the songs of previous Albanian representatives. Fortunately, there will be a revamp of the song, but I don’t think it can change anything.
I think it’s about time that Albania presents itself with something new, it doesn’t matter if the song will be performed by a female singer, a male singer, or a band. It’s time for them to present Albanian culture with modern songs that can be imposed to win the Eurovision Song Contest.
If the revamp of the song is really good, there might be some chance for the final. but even if they manage to reach the final, I don’t expect a ranking higher than the top 20. My rating for the song Zemrën N’dorë is 6/10.
