Young and highly awarded musician Mia Dimšić is this year’s representative of Croatia. I have been following Mia’s music career since her early beginnings, her musical style is very simple and completely different from all other singers on the Croatian music scene.
Croatia’s Taylor Swift, but as she says, considers this comparison a great compliment. Her song Guilty Pleasure is a style of music that has never represented Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest. I think this song will be a real refreshment and many will like it.
Personally, I am very glad that Mia represents Croatia because she is a singer with a built musical career, experience and is very authentic on the Croatian music scene. Her song is very high quality with very good production and I think a great staging can be created.
I understand that Guilty Pleasure is not a common “cup of tea” and that it is not interesting to many fans, but that is exactly why I think it has great potential to stand out on the Eurovision scene. Croatia may not have a winning song this year, but it has a very high-quality song. The competition this year really isn’t that strong, especially in the first semifinal group, so I believe Mia has a very good chance of making it to the finals and can pleasantly surprise with the final placement.
I hope that there will be a big upgrade in relation to the national finals and that Mia will shine in the right way on the Turin stage. I am glad that Croatia is jumping out of the box and sending new and different songs that are not as typical as in previous years. I hope Mia will make it to the finals and try to win the best possible result. My rating for the song Guilty Pleasure is 8/10.
