Azerbaijan is as good as every year. Another ballad, but not at all bad compared to the others. This year’s representative is Nadir Rustamli with the song Fade To Black. It is very obvious that a lot has been invested in this song, a very high-quality production.
Nadir has a beautiful, deep voice but also perfectly hits high tones. The song is quite complex as if it is formed from several parts of different songs. Fade To Black would be ideal as a movie soundtrack, it is very dramatic and theatrical.
The song has very good potential to create the perfect staging and I am sure that part will be fulfilled. I’m a little afraid that Nadir will hit that high tone in the live performance towards the end of the song, but I believe that everything will be fine. The production has no flaws in this song.
Azerbaijan will surely make it to the finals as it does almost every year. I think the jury will love this song and that’s why I think it will be placed very high. I don’t see it as a potential winner, but a lot can change until the final performance. A big bravo for the effort and good luck in Turin. My rating for the song Fade To Black is 7.5 / 10.
