Estonia exceeded all my expectations last year, Alika was phenomenal, I think she deserved a better result in televote, but overall it turned out very well. I somehow hoped that Estonia would continue in that direction to try to achieve an even better result, but this year we have something completely different.
Estonia is represented this year by 5Miinust & Puuluup with the song (Nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) magadi. If anything they became the record holder for the longest song title. I think that the representatives of Estonia are not going to present themselves with the best song, but to make a television show. I have nothing against it because Eurovision is primarily a television show and it is no longer enough to just have a song, you have to find a way to attract attention.
I wouldn’t listen to this song in my free time, but I would be happy to listen to it and watch the accompanying performance at the same time. I think that is the real goal of this song to attract attention with a visual effect. The song has a good rhythm, I like the irony. The guys are really fun but they might be misunderstood and leave a bad impression like Latvia with the song Eat Your Salad. Considering that Estonia is in the second semi-final and in the second half of the evening, I would say that they have a chance to go to the final.
If the competition is not very strong, I believe they will make it to the finals, but I don’t see more than that. In the final, there will probably be minimal votes from the jury, and as far as the audience is concerned, maybe the top 15. Compared to last year, maybe I had higher expectations, but everyone has the right to achieve the best possible result and make their country proud. My rating for the song (Nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) magadi is 5.5/10.
