Ireland has emerged as one of the worst countries in the Eurovision Song Contest in recent years. Year after year, they present themselves with very average songs that can’t even be close to entering the finals.
This year they told themselves that enough is enough and decided to take a risk by choosing a very unusual song that might be characteristic as a representative of Finland. It’s about the very unusual artist Bambia Thug with the song Doomsday Blue.
The first reaction to this song was: “What the Hell is this?” A combination of schizophrenia and nirvana. I had to listen to the song several times to experience it in its full meaning. Although it is shockingly bad at first, when you hear it a few times you realize that it is surprisingly very good. I would like the stage performance to be improved a bit. I think this song will surely leave the audience in shock, which is why it will probably go to the finals.
Ireland is in the first semi-final, which is much more difficult, it is possible that Ireland will not go further, more because of a bad series of years when they failed to qualify for the final. If the performance is at the highest level, this song can go to the final, especially since it will attract younger viewers who will love it.
This is not a song I would listen to every day, but I like that it leaves that shock effect in a positive way. I hope Ireland makes it to the finals, anything above that is far beyond all expectations. My rating for the song Doomsday Blue is 7/10.
